The Curious Case of Kylian Mbappe’s New Club

After seven memorable years in Paris, Kylian Mbappe will leave PSG at the end of the season. Many claim that Real Madrid is his next destination but what if he chose another European giant as his next club? Let’s find out:

Almost all football fans agree that Kylian Mbappe’s new club will be Real Madrid. Before this significant transfer takes place, there has been much discussion about Real Madrid’s lineup for the next season, including Mbappé.

The main question in these discussions is whether Carlo Ancelotti will use Mbappe as a center forward. Many people have answered this question affirmatively and believe that Vinicius Jr. will continue as the left winger. In this case, Jude Bellingham will play ahead of the other two midfielders, behind Mbappé, Vinicius, and either Rodrygo or Endrick. Another option is for Madrid to play with four midfielders, with Mbappé and Vinicius alongside each other in the attack.

Which New Club Will Kylian Mbappe Play For After Leaving PSG?

There has been tons of speculation about Kylian Mbappe’s next club. While many assume he will end up at Real Madrid, let us explore how he would fare in other top European clubs. Here’s how Kylian Mbappe would fit into the best football clubs in Europe:

Manchester City

Many football experts and fans consider Erling Haaland as Kylian Mbappe’s main rival for individual glory in the coming years. Now, imagine both of them in the same team. What a formidable attack that would be!

If Manchester City becomes Kylian Mbappe’s new club, we will witness a great force in football. Manchester City is already considered the strongest team in Europe, and adding the French star to their squad would only widen the gap between them and their competitors. This is something that fans of other teams certainly don’t want to imagine.

Almost every player in football today would love to work with Pep Guardiola, and this is one of the main attractions for players joining Manchester City. Guardiola’s unique style and the team’s creative approach would reach new heights with Mbappe in the squad, and no team would want to face them.

However, if this transfer goes through, Manchester City will face a challenge regarding squad balance. It’s hard to imagine the club demoting Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku, who compete for the left-winger position, to backup roles for Mbappe. With the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, and Julián Álvarez also set to remain at the club next season, at least one star player would have to be sacrificed.

Main advantage: The opportunity to be a part of an extremely powerful team with one of the greatest managers in football history.

Main disadvantage: Disrupting the team balance at Manchester City and the need to sacrifice one or two stars.

Jamal Musiala, Kingsley Coman, and Kylian Mbappé behind Harry Kane. Wow! This combination could be the most terrifying attack in Europe.

The lack of a reliable right-winger led Thomas Tuchel to experiment with various options in that position this season. Musiala has often been deployed on the right wing instead of his usual position as an attacking midfielder. Serge Gnabry also had his ups and downs this season, and Tuchel at times used players like Raphael Guerrero and Alphonso Davies, who are actually attacking-minded defenders.

If Kylian Mbappe joins Bayern Munich, not only will this issue be resolved in the best possible way, but also his combination play with Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala could lead to plenty of goals for the Bavarians. Bayern Munich has had many pacey and goal-scoring wingers over the past two decades, from Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben to Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Leroy Sane, leading to numerous accomplishments. And Mbappé could top them all.

However, the first thing that comes to mind when hearing Kylian Mbappe’s name alongside Bayern Munich is that their situation is similar to PSG’s. While they lost the league title this season after twelve years, they will probably regain control of the Bundesliga. At Bayern Munich, Mbappe will have a better chance of winning the Champions League, but unlike in the top English teams or two Spanish giants, he won’t be in the spotlight.

Main advantage: Playing alongside Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala will give Mbappe the space he loves.

Main disadvantage: Replicating the Paris experience in a one-sided league and not being in the center of attention.

The pairing of Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe on the right and left flanks of the attack could be the dreamiest combination for the years ahead at Barcelona.

If Joan Laporta manages to hijack Mbappé from Real Madrid, it will mark one of the most controversial and significant transfers in football history. Add this to the recent rivalry between Barcelona and PSG, and imagine this headline: Barcelona avenges Neymar from Paris!

Mbappe’s presence at Barcelona is more than just a footballing consideration. It will take the long-standing rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid to another level. If Mbappe goes to Barcelona, a new chapter will open in El Clásico, and he will likely become one of the most hated players for Madridistas—a player who stalled them for years and now joins the rival club.

From a football perspective, Barcelona needs Mbappe much more than he needs them. A superstar who can unlock defenses and start a new era of success for the Catalans after Lionel Messi’s departure. Mbappe is considered one of the closest players to Ronaldo Nazario, and he was at his peak in Barcelona too.

Main advantage: Increased chances of winning the Ballon d’Or and the UEFA Champions League.

Main disadvantage: There would be a lot of gossip due to choosing Barcelona over Real Madrid after years of speculation.

Imagine Kylian Mbappe on the right flank of the attack and Mohamed Salah on the left. This combination would frighten any team.

If Mbappe wore the Liverpool shirt, the team could be a serious contender in all competitions, even without Jurgen Klopp. The Reds have mostly used Luis Diaz on the right wing this season. While rumors of the Colombian player leaving in the summer are circulating, the French superstar could be the dreamiest replacement in that position.

Mbappe’s pace and creativity, along with his unpredictable movements and dribbles, perfectly suit Liverpool’s fast and transitional style of play. Imagine being Alex McAllister or Dominik Szoboszlai and being able to pass the ball to both Salah and Mbappe in a counter-attack. You probably wouldn’t want anything more. Moreover, Liverpool, with Alexander-Arnold on the right and Andrew Robertson on the left, creates a good space for attacking full-backs, and linking Robertson with Mbappe could lead to many chances and goals.

Liverpool has one of the most passionate fan bases in the world and they always had a good relationship with their best strikers. Robbie Fowler was like a god to them, and they called him ” Robbie God”. Michael Owen was the best player in the league for them. Later, Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez came in, and now for several years, Mohamed Salah has become their superstar and one of the faces of the Premier League. Mbappe could be the best continuation of these stars and find a special place in the Kop.

Main advantage: He could write his own story at Anfield and become a Kop legend forever.

Main disadvantage: Unlike the teams of Manchester, Liverpool is not in the spotlight, and Mbappe’s chances of individual awards may decrease.

During Arsene Wenger’s era, French players achieved great success at Arsenal. Kylian Mbappe, once dubbed the “next Thierry Henry,” could be the perfect fit for Arsenal.

Mbappe could elevate Mikel Arteta’s young and evolving team to another level. In the attacking front, only Bukayo Saka on the right flank has shown consistent quality this season, while other players like Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli have had their ups and downs. Mbappe, who has the ability to play both on the left side and as a center forward, could be the best option for the Gunners. In fact, if we were to list Arsenal’s weaknesses, having a prolific striker would be the most important one.

Mikel Arteta is one of the brightest coaches in the football world right now. Especially in the last two years in the Premier League, he has shown that he can be tactically flexible against any team. Arsenal has shown this season that they can create goal-scoring opportunities easily, and Mbappe’s presence would add a new dimension to their attacking line.

Thierry Henry is one of the best players in the history of the Premier League, if not the best. In his prime, he dominated English football and became the top scorer and face of the Premier League. Kylian Mbappé, who has featured in two consecutive World Cup finals, is the best option to preserve and continue Henry’s legacy.

Main advantage: He could build a legacy there, like no other club.

Main disadvantage: The toughest road to success, especially in Europe.
