Chelsea returns youngster Andrey Santos to Vasco de Gama until June after they fail to secure him a work permit
The teenage talent Andrey Santos has gone back to Vasco de Gama on loan after Chelsea failed to secure him a work permit.
Santos to remain at Vasco de Gama
The teenager will play for the Brazilian side until June. The 18-eyar-old helped Vasco de Gama earn promotions to the Brazilian Serie A last year and was then snapped up by Chelsea for £18million.
However, he has no work permit to play in England so Chelsea has loaned him back to Vasco de Gama until they can sort things out.
Palmeiras was also keen on acquiring the player but negotiations broke down when the two clubs didn’t agree on the length of the contract. While Chelsea wanted Santos back for the next season, Palmeiras wanted him for all of the 2023 (which would be their whole season).
The highly-rated Santos won the Golden boot with six goals in the South American Under-20 Championship last month as he captained Brazil to the title.
