Adeyemi gets injured and loses Dortmund’s UCL clash against Chelsea

Dortmund’s Champions League hero gets injured

Karim Adeyemi has had a hell of a week despite a slow start at Dortmund. The 21-year-old striker scored against Chelsea in the Champions League and followed it up with a goal and assist in BVB’s 4-1 against Hertha Berlin on Sunday.

Although that came at a cost, as Adeyemi was taken off at half-time. The German youngster got injured in Borussia Dortmund’s second goal when he assisted Donyell Malen. He was seen clutching his left thigh before coming off the field.

“He will be unavailable to play for the team for approximately three weeks.”

The club has since released a statement revealing that Karim Adeyemi will miss three weeks of Dortmund action. This rules the striker out of Dortmund’s trip to Stamford Bridge on March 7.

“Borussia Dortmund’s attacking player Karim Adeyemi sustained torn muscle fibres in the home game against Hertha BSC on Sunday,” read an update from the club. “He will be unavailable to play for the team for approximately three weeks.”

Adeyemi, who came to Dortmund with great promise, found it hard to adjust to life at Signal Iduna Park at first, scoring only twice in his first two outings. However, the German international has now scored in his last four games for Dortmund.
