Manchester City 3-0 Young Boys: Haaland at the double as the holders reach the Last 16

Manchester City qualified for the UEFA Champions League Last 16 after a comfortable 3-0 home victory against Young Boys.

Manchester City booked their spot in the Champions League Last 16 round with a 3-0 home win over Young Boys on Tuesday Night. Guardiola’s side is at the top of the group with 12 points after four matches. Leipzig also has qualified with 9 points.

Manchester City won a penalty after Matheus Nunes was fouled inside the box. Erling Haaland scored from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute with a clinical low spot kick into the corner.

Just before half-time, Phil Foden doubled City’s lead. Foden took Grealish’s pass on the charge on the right side, went past his marker, and placed the ball into the far corner of the net.

Haaland scored his second goal of the night in the 52nd minute with a stunning 25-yard shot into the far corner.

Just one minute later, Young Boys player Sandro Lauper received his second yellow card after a nasty challenge on Ake.

Nunes could score his first goal for Manchester City when Doku’s cross reached him at the back stick, but his shot just went wide.
