Giroud praised Milan’s performance against PSG

Olivier Giroud elucidates why Milan’s challenging start to the Champions League didn’t concern him and how defeating PSG 2-1 at San Siro constituted ‘the perfect night.’

The Rossoneri were under pressure due to a dismal start to this season, which included earning only two points and scoring zero goals in three Champions League games, as well as suffering back-to-back 1-0 Serie A home defeats to Juventus and Udinese.

Milan Skriniar, unmarked, headed in at the far post from a corner, making it appear like another nightmare evening.

However, Rafael Leao equalized with an extraordinary bicycle-kick, and then Giroud leaped into the sky to meet the cross from Theo Hernandez.

“We are not happy when we don’t win, so a goal was good, but we had to get the victory.

“We wanted to react after recent setbacks and this was the perfect night and we created many chances, were more effective and that is what makes the difference and we all did what the coach asked and avoided certain mistakes.

“It is wonderful to still experience moments like this at the age of 37.”

Borussia Dortmund currently lead the group with seven points, with PSG closely behind on six, followed by Milan with five, and Newcastle United with four.

“We should have won at least one or two in the Champions League before this, so I wasn’t too worried because I knew we had created the chances and just needed to be a bit more precise in the final pass and the finish.”

“We know that the Champions League is special for Milan and we wanted to give our all for the fans, who sang from start to finish. I am proud of this team.”
