Joaquin Correa expressed his happiness that he was able to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League with Inter and claimed that his dream has come true.
Since making his move from Lazio permanent in the summer, the Argentine has only scored four goals up to now, and had not been able to find the net for the Nerazzurri since their 3-0 victory over Sampdoria at San Siro on October 29.
Correa finally scored for inter after a long drought
Inter was able to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2010 and have to face Milan in the derby della Madonina.
Correa said: “It was very important to reach the semi-final. It was a dream and we deserved it. In the dressing room we were a little disappointed with the two goals we conceded in the final stages, but now we’re looking to the league.
“We need to win again because we’re a little behind in the standings,” Correa added.
Despite Nerazzuri’s success in Europe, they have struggled in Serie A and dropped out of the top four after losing to Monza at home last weekend.
The Nerazzurri will either have to improve their performance in the league or win the Champions League final in order to secure qualification for next year’s edition of the competition.
Correa added: “Right now we’re all happy. The group is giving everything, even if things don’t go the way we want in the league.
“But if we find a way to always play like this, we’ll do a lot of good things in this next month and a half. Unfortunately we haven’t been very consistent so far, but we want to end the season on a high note.
“Of course, you have to dream otherwise things don’t come true.”
