Chelsea 0-0 Aston Villa: Blues set for FA Cup replay after entertaining goalless draw

Chelsea will face Aston Villa again in an FA Cup fourth-round replay after a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.

Chelsea and Aston Villa will need a replay to decide who qualified for the fifth round of the FA Cup after an entertaining 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge on Friday.

Villa should have led after 10 minutes, but Djordje Petrovic saved Youri Tielemans’ header from six yards out. Aston Villa opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Luiz scored from close range after a Moussa Diaby shot was deflected into his path. However, the goal was ruled out after VAR judged Luiz to have handled the ball.

Palmer could score for Chelsea after Clement Lenglet mistake, but the former Manchester City man found only the goalkeeper with his shot. Minutes later, Madueke had a chance to score for Chelsea, but Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez saved well at close range from him.

The best chance of the second half was for Chelsea in the 68th minute as Martinez’s clearance found Cole Palmer inside the box, but he misfired his shot.

Matty Cash came close to scoring for Villa with a beautiful effort, but Chelsea keeper Djordje Petrovic turned it around the post with a stunning reaction. McGinn had the chance to settle it after arriving at the near post to meet Zaniolo’s cross at the near post. However, his strike went wide of the target.
