Carlo Ancelotti has acknowledged the possibility of Arda Guler making his debut for Real Madrid in the upcoming Copa del Rey clash against Arandina.
Turkish talent Arda Guler, who arrived at Madrid amid significant excitement in the summer, underwent knee surgery shortly after joining, leading to an extended period on the sidelines. Despite a few minor setbacks, the 18-year-old Guler has yet to make his debut for Los Blancos.
After being an unused substitute in three previous games, Guler seems poised to showcase his talent for the first time.
“Guler will be available,” Ancelotti told the press. “[Starting] is an option.”
Real Madrid enters the upcoming Copa del Rey match against Arandina as the clear favorite, facing a team struggling in the lower ranks of the fourth tier of Spanish football.
However, Madrid’s previous encounter with a team from the same division, Cacereno, in January 2023, was less comfortable than expected. Despite ultimately winning 1-0, the uneasy victory raised concerns for both fans and coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Notably, current first-team players Rodrygo, Eder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurelien Tchouameni were among the starters in that match. Federico Valverde and Antonio Rudiger will be coming off the bench to address challenges during the game.
Keen to learn from that experience, Ancelotti added: “I would say that it will be complicated like it was against Cacereno. You have to take it seriously.
“We will try to win because we are very interested in the competition. Due to fatigue I will do some rotation, but we will still be competitive. Let’s play a serious game, but I have no concerns. The team is plugged in, motivated. We are very focused on the game. This competition, I repeat, has given us a lot of happiness.”
