After witnessing Wrexham’s promotion to the English Football League after a 15-year absence, Ryan Reynolds felt justified.
In November 2020, the Deadpool star and fellow actor Rob McElhenney shocked everyone by purchasing the Welsh club.
The co-owners, along with Hollywood star guest Paul Rudd, attended the Racecourse Ground on Saturday to witness Wrexham’s victory over Boreham Wood with a score of 3-1, securing the National League title.

After the game, Reynolds and McElhenney brimmed with emotions as they celebrated with the players and manager Phil Parkinson.
With Wrexham’s record-breaking 110 points in the National League, Notts County’s chances of catching up (with 106 points) in the thrilling title race were now eliminated, leaving only one game remaining.
“I am not sure I can process what happened tonight. I am still little speechless.
“[People ask] ‘Why Wrexham?’. This is why Wrexham. This happening, right now, is why.
“Boreham Wood showed up today. They are an incredible team. They have one of the best defences in the entire league.”
Wrexham owner added: “This entire story, the reason we are all on edge of our seats is because Notts County are so damn good. They deserve to go up. We are rooting for Notts County. We want to see them go up [in the playoffs].”
Wrexham secured their spot in League Two for the next season by bouncing back from conceding a goal to Lee Ndlovu’s first-minute lob.
Elliot Lee then equalized in the 15th minute, followed by two skillfully executed goals by top scorer Paul Mullin in the second half, ultimately leading to a historic victory.
“Well I think we can hear what it feels to the town. It’s a time of celebration and be welcomed into their community and be welcomed to this, it is the honour of my life,” McElhenney added.
