Edwin Van der Sar’s condition ‘stable’ but it’s ‘still concerning’

Annemarie, the wife of legendary goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, has provided an update on his condition following his brain hemorrhage while on holiday in Croatia.

Van der Sar, renowned for his time at Manchester United and Ajax, is currently in a stable but still concerning condition in the hospital.

The 52-year-old was airlifted to the hospital on Friday and is now receiving intensive care. Ajax released a statement with the update, which Annemarie shared.

It read: “Edwin van der Sar will remain in intensive care for the time being. His condition is stable but still concerning. Ajax shares this information on behalf of Annemarie van der Sar, Edwin’s wife. The Van der Sar family, along with Ajax, is grateful and deeply touched by the many messages of support.”

After his successful tenure as chief executive of Dutch football club Ajax, Van der Sar recently resigned. He first became part of the club’s management team in 2012, serving as the marketing director.

Throughout his time with Ajax and his previous club, Manchester United, Van der Sar had the honor of winning multiple Champions League trophies.

Before their pre-season friendly against Den Bosch, the Ajax first-team squad demonstrated their solidarity with Van der Sar by wearing No.1 goalkeeper jerseys. But this gesture supported and encouraged van der Sar who recently suffered a brain hemorrhage.
