Ajax vs. Feyenoord match will be resumed behind closed doors!

The Dutch Football Federation has announced that the last 35 minutes of the Ajax vs Feyenoord game will be played behind closed doors.

On Sunday, Ajax found themselves 3-0 down after 55 minutes as their fierce rivals from Rotterdam humiliated them in front of their home crowd. Some devoted Ajax supporters in Amsterdam’s Johan Cruyff Arena threw flames onto the playing surface. The referee was forced to call time on the game after two stoppages.

According to the KNVB, in such situations, “a match should preferably be decided on the pitch… the match must then be resumed as soon as possible.”

In a broader context, furious Ajax supporters damaged the stadium entrance ahead of the Feyenoord match. They engaged in running skirmishes with mounted police, who used tear gas to disperse the crowd as the violence spilled out from the ground.

These deplorable events marked a new low in Ajax’s turmoil, which has seen the four-time European Cup champions facing difficulties both on and off the pitch.

According to certain sources, Ajax is currently rejecting the solution proposed by the Dutch association because they believe the situation remains volatile. At the same time, Feyenoord wants the match to resume this week rather than later.

The match will resume on Wednesday, September 27, from the point where it was suspended (55 minutes).
