Joshua Kimmich to miss Germany friendlies against USA and Mexico

Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich will miss Germany’s friendly matches against Mexico and the United States.

The German FA has confirmed that midfielder Joshua Kimmich has left the training camp due to a flu-like infection and will travel back to Munich on Saturday.

Newly appointed Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann is set to lead his team for the first time against the USMNT on Saturday night. Germany will also face Mexico on Tuesday in another friendly match ahead of Euro 2024 next summer on home soil.

Julian Nagelsmann replaced Hansi Flick as Germany’s head coach following the latter’s dismissal in September. The 36-year-old has signed a contract until the end of UEFA EURO 2024.

After the international break, Bayern Munich will face FSV Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga next Saturday.
