Gundogan: Germany lacked courage in Turkey defeat

Ilkay Gundogan, the captain of Germany, asserts that their team didn’t exhibit enough courage in their 2-3 defeat against Turkey.

In his home debut as Germany’s coach, Julian Nagelsmann’s plans didn’t go as expected. His team endured a surprising 2-3 defeat at home against an under-strength Turkey team.

In a post-match interview, Ilkay Gündogan, the captain of the German team, actively discussed the reasons for their defeat.

Gundogan said: “We weren’t brave enough.

“We weren’t able to put pressure on their build-up play.

“It feels like we lost the game in the first half.”

Kai Havertz initiated the scoring for Germany, but Turkey rallied to secure a 2-1 lead as they entered halftime.

Early in the second half, Niclas Füllkrug equalized the scores, and then the visitors secured their victory from the penalty spot.
