Gavi’s serious knee injury spoiled Spain’s victory against Georgia in their final Euro 2024 qualifying Group A match on Sunday night.
La Roja finished at the top of Group A after a 3-1 home victory against Georgia on Sunday.
Spain earned 21 points after eight matches in the Euro 2024 qualifying round. Scotland finished in second place with 17 points after a 3-3 draw with Norway. Georgia finished fourth with eight points, and Cyprus failed to win any points.
Spain got its first goal in the fourth minute after Le Normand scored his first international goal from Ferran Torres’s free kick. Six minutes later, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia equalized for Georgie. Torres scored the second goal in the 55th minute, and Georgia’s Lochoshvili scored an own goal in the 72nd minute.
Spain’s win over Georgia was overshadowed by Gavi’s injury, who had to leave the pitch in tears after suffering a serious knee injury in the first half.
