Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni has revealed that he is considering resigning from his position after victory against Brazil.
Argentina managed to beat Brazil thanks to Nicolas Otamendi’s goal in a World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday night. This match was overshadowed by pre-match crowd trouble that caused a delay in kick-off.
Argentina is at the top of the qualifying group with 15 points after six matches. They have an eight-point lead over Brazil.
After the match, the World Cup-winning coach Lionel Scaloni hinted that he may resign from his position.
He said: “I have to think a lot about what to do. It’s not goodbye but the bar is very high. This group demands you permanently. This team needs a coach who has all the energy possible and be well. “
Reports in Argentina claim that there are some internal issues between Lionel Scaloni and the President of the Argentine Football Association.
The 45-year-old Scaloni became Argentina’s manager in 2018 and led them to the 2021 Copa America glory. One year later, Scaloni’s side also won Argentina’s third World Cup title in Qatar. He has a contract with La Albiceleste until after the 2026 World Cup.
