After scoring his 100th goal and ninth hat-trick for his country amid Argentina’s homecoming World Cup celebrations on Tuesday, Lionel Messi expressed his hope that the “craziness never ends.”
In Santiago del Estero, La Albiceleste crushed Curacao 7-0, with Messi scoring the opening goal in the 20th minute and reaching his 100th international goal.
Only Cristiano Ronaldo (122) and Ali Daei (109) have achieved this feat.
Messi is only 9 goals away from Ali Daei, the second best international goal scorer
Messi who scored his 800th goal of his career in Argentine last match, scored his 100th international goal, becoming the first world champion to achieve this feat.
He continued his impressive performance by scoring further first-half goals which resulted in a treble and a total of 102 goals.
Argentina celebrated their first two home games since their World Cup victory in December with exuberant celebrations, starting with a 2-0 win over Panama in Buenos Aires.
After their victory against Curacao, the team celebrated by lifting the World Cup trophy and taking a lap of honor to greet their fans.
The Argentine Football Association president Claudio Tapia presented Messi with a plaque in recognition of his 100th goal.
Messi wrote on his Instagram account:“What a nice way to close these dates, impressive today all the people in Santiago del Estero.”
“I wish we can continue to share together many moments like these and that this craziness never ends!!!”
