Egypt head coach Rui Vitoria has provided an update on Mohamed Salah after he suffered an injury against Ghana.
Egypt captain Mohamed Salah was forced off with an injury before his side twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday.
The 31-year-old Liverpool star was forced off in the last minute of the first half with an apparent muscle injury.
“We don’t know yet what is the problem. I hope not a big problem…It is too early to say something,” said Vitoria.
“Salah is an amazing player, one of the best players in the world, so we want to have this kind of player always with us.”
Vitoria insisted that his team even without Salah is still capable of winning AFCON.
“Nobody wins the title without coming through difficult games. today we showed, mainly in the second half, the courage and quality of this team.“
Egypt currently has two points before their final Group B match against Cape Verde. Egypt may need to beat Cape Verde to avoid an early exit from the tournament.
Cape Verde could secure a spot in the AFCON knockout stages with a game to spare if they defeat Mozambique on Friday.
