Senegal coach Aliou Cisse released from hospital after health scare

Senegal manager Aliou Cisse has been discharged from hospital after being treated for stomach pain.

Aliou Cisse has been released from the hospital after a health scare following his team’s 3-1 win against Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations. The 47-year-old Cisse was admitted to a local hospital after the game in Yamoussoukro late Friday, and he remained there overnight.

The Senegalese football federation said on Saturday that Cisse was treated by medical staff for a “benign infectious pathology” and has been released from the hospital.

The tests are reassuring and he is back with his group,” the federation said.

He’s doing well,” Senegal team spokesperson Kara Thioune said.

Cisse has been the coach of his country since 2015 and led them to victory at the last Cup of Nations two years ago.

Defending champions Senegal qualified for the round of 16 after beating Cameroon and Gambia. They will play Guinea in their final group game in Yamoussoukro on Tuesday.
