Nigeria reaches the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals after beating Angola in Abidjan on Friday night.
Nigeria defeated Angola thanks to an Ademola Lookman goal to qualify for the semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations. Nigeria, who are one step closer to winning their fourth AFCON title, will face the winner of South Africa and Cape Verde in the semi-final on Wednesday.
Angola could score early in the game, but Nigeria keeper denied them. Gilberto made good contact from a corner and his header found Mabululu. His shot from a couple of yards was saved incredibly by Nwabali.
After his brace in the Round of 16, Ademola Lookman put Nigeria ahead in the 41st minute. Moses Simon skip past a couple of challenges on the left and squares in the box for Lookman to tap home.
Angola came close to equalizing in the 61st minute after a beautifully weighted through ball splits the Nigerian defence and found Zini. However, his shot hit the far post.
Osimhen scored the second goal with his head from a free kick in the 75th minute, but it was ruled out due to offside.
Napoli star Oaimhen had another chance to score in the 83rd minute, but he was slow to react to Lookman’s pass and his shot was blocked. Osimhen later was stretchered off the pitch for cramp.
