Bayern’s Aleksandar Pavlovic turns down Serbia’s approach for international duty

Bayern Munich youngster Aleksandar Pavlovic has decided to decline the Serbian Football Association’s current recruitment efforts.

This decision was confirmed by the Serbian national team director on the association’s website, who also disclosed that the Serbian team had extended an offer for him to participate in the upcoming Euros.

Dr. Vladimir Milutinovic, a contributing writer for Germany’s leading football publication, revealed that the 19-year-old, who has two caps for Germany’s U20 level, reportedly prefers to wait and see if Germany U21 head coach Antonio di Salvo will consider calling him up during the upcoming international break.

The recent rise of Aleksandar Pavlovic in the starting lineup of German powerhouse FC Bayern München has caught the attention of the Serbian Football Association. According to the official website of the “White Eagles,” Serbian national team director Stevan Stojanovic confirmed that a delegation traveled to Munich to present an offer to the 19-year-old.

Aleksandar Pavlovic awaits German FA’s call-up

Stojanovic’s statement suggests that Serbian national coach Dragan Stojkovic expressed immediate interest in calling up the young talent during the current month’s international break. The Serbian FA engaged in extensive discussions with Pavlovic and his family for “months,” emphasizing “direct integration into the senior national team.”

However, Pavlovic has declined to switch allegiances at this time. The Munich native and graduate of the Bayern academy has postponed any decision until “after the Euros,” according to Stojanovic. Dr. Vladimir Milutinovic, a contributor to Germany’s Kicker Magazine, strongly indicates that Pavlovic desires to represent the Bundesrepublik.

Initially invited to train with the Bayern professionals by current Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann, Pavlovic’s prospects for an audition this month seem uncertain, especially with the return of Toni Kroos to the national team. However, a call-up by Germany U21 national team coach Antonio di Salvo appears probable.

Pavlovic has not yet received a call-up to Germany’s top youth level, primarily due to his breakthrough at Bayern occurring after the last international break in November. Since then, the young talent has scored two league goals and provided one assist in his seven league starts. Pavlovic has featured in the starting lineup for FC Bayern München in their last six matches across all competitions, including their recent UEFA Champions League victory.
