Spain still one of the favorites to host the 2030 World Cup by FIFA despite Rubiales scandal

FIFA still considers a joint bid from Spain, Portugal and Morocco to host the 2030 World Cup as their top priority despite the recent Rubiales controversy.

The recent Luis Rubiales scandal has significantly impacted Spanish football, particularly the Spanish Football Federation, which Rubiales presided over.

Luis Rubiales scandal emerged at an unfortunate time for the Federation, as they have been actively pursuing the opportunity to co-host the 2030 World Cup with Portugal and Morocco.

Despite the challenges the RFEF faced, they are still the frontrunners to host the world’s largest football tournament.

According to Marca, FIFA President Gianni Infantino maintains that the joint bid from Spain, Portugal, and Morocco remains the top choice, surpassing bids from other contenders like Saudi Arabia/Egypt/Greece and the South American bid.

If this report holds true, the Spanish Football Federation should view this as a fortunate position.

However, they must also prioritize efforts to promote gender equality in women’s football and ensure they do not lose focus on this important aspect while pursuing the World Cup bid.
