France Kolo Muani still regrets World Cup final miss

France striker Randal Kolo Muani confesses that he still regrets his late miss during the World Cup final loss to Argentina.

During the World Cup final, Kolo Muani who has been under the radar of Manchester United, was brought on as a substitute when the scoreline was tied at 3-3.

He had an excellent opportunity to secure the trophy for France, as he was played through on goal and faced only Emi Martinez.

Emiliano Martinez failed the French star forever.

However, his effort was blocked by the Argentina goalkeeper. Following the match, Argentina emerged victorious on penalties, and Kolo Muani acknowledges that his life would have been vastly different had he taken his chance.

He told L’Equipe: “It could have changed my life. I would have preferred to put it in the background, like everyone else, like all French people, but it happened and these are the vagaries of life.

“This action makes me want to work in front of goal. I’m working and I think I’m making progress. It will give me the courage to move on and to put it in next time.”

Having made 24 appearances in the Bundesliga, Kolo Muani has had an impressive season with Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists.

He added: “I want to move on, but it’s part of my job, it’s not as if I’m sad. I’m just not going to forget it, we were very close to bringing back the third star. I’m not going to lie, I hate it.”

There have been rumors that the striker may leave the club during the summer transfer window, with both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly interested in acquiring his services.
