FIFA president Gianni Infantino jokes that Lionel Messi could feature in the 2034 World Cup, even at the age of 47.
In 2022, Lionel Messi accomplished his football journey by guiding Argentina to their third World Cup triumph, the first in his career. While this achievement was considered the final piece of the puzzle for him, he has continued playing international football since then.
During the summer, Messi departed Europe to join Inter Miami. Despite the move, his remarkable performance level hasn’t waned. He continues to excel for La Albiceleste, fueling suggestions that he could play internationally until the next World Cup in 2026.

“I hope Messi reaches the next World Cup, the one after that and the one in ’34 as well. He should play as long as he wants.”
Messi would be 47 during the 2034 World Cup. That makes his participation unlikely. However, there’s a possibility the Barcelona legend could still feature in the next World Cup in three years’ time.
