PSG star Neymar has been unlucky when it comes to World Cup campaigns, but he wants one more crack at it
Brazil were left heartbroken when they were knocked out of the 2022 World Cup by Croatia. This has left Neymar’s future with the Selecao up in the air.
Neymar’s ‘very big dream’
Back when Brazil was knocked out of the 2022 World Cup, the Brazilian superstar said that he is “psychologically destroyed” and is unsure if he would ever play for Brazil again.
“I’ll go year by year and we’ll see,”
But he has since come out and expressed his “very big dream” of playing for Brazil in the 2026 World Cup.
“I’ll go year by year and we’ll see,” Neymar told TNT Sports. “Of course, I have a very big dream, that of winning the World Cup.”
“Leo has always been an inspiration,” he said. “He always helped and encouraged me. Obviously, seeing him win at 34 [sic, 35], I think about it too.”
Just like Lionel Messi, Neymar will be 34 years old when the 2026 World Cup comes around. The former Barcelona star has been a part of Brazil’s squad on 3 different occasions but has been unable to reach the final of the tournament on all 3 campaigns.
