New Spain manager Luis de la Fuente will announce his first Spain squad soon and he may have a few surprises
It is being reported that while Luis de la Fuente publicly said that he won’t call up PSG’s Sergio Ramos, he may include another Real Madrid veteran in his plans.
De la Fuente to surprise everyone with his squad announcement
El Nacional reports that new Spain manager Luis de la Fuente may opt to call up Real Madrid veteran Nacho Fernandez in his first squad announcement. Fernandez has not been called up for La Roja since 2018 but the Real Madrid academy graduate has 22 caps and an international goal under his name.
Nacho Fernandez was not fancied by Luis Enrique which is why there may be a big gap between his last two call ups. Nacho has been in great form recently, operating as a full back on either flanks but the 32-year-old can operate as a center back as well.
Fernandez graduated to Real Madrid’s first team back in 2011 and has since been part of perhaps the greatest era of Real Madrid history. He has won four La Liga titles and five Champions League trophies among many other major honors.
