Mudryk injury scare gone away as he trains with Ukraine

Chelsea has successfully averted another injury concern, as Mykhailo Mudryk returned to training with Ukraine after an initial scare during the match against England.

The 22-year-old winger was substituted late in a Euro 2024 qualifier against the Three Lions on Saturday, showing signs of discomfort in his calf. His fitness was carefully managed, given the situation. Mudryk had an awkward fall while changing direction under pressure from Kyle Walker.

Fortunately, he participated in a recovery session on Sunday, as reported by Standard Sport, and has been included in Serhiy Rebrov’s squad for another qualifying match against reigning European champions Italy in Milan on Tuesday.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino will be relieved to hear that no additional player has joined the growing list of injuries at Stamford Bridge. The club is already missing several key players, including Christopher Nkunku, Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia, Reece James, Benoit Badiashile, Carney Chukwuemeka, Armando Broja, and Marcus Bettinelli.

Mudryk has faced challenges in making a significant impact at Chelsea since his £89 million ($111 million) transfer in January. He is still awaiting his first competitive goal after 20 appearances, but his potential, especially his blazing speed, remains a valuable asset to be developed.
