Yeremy Pino and Borja Iglesias have received call-ups to join Spain’s team for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Norway and Scotland, following the withdrawal of Pedri and Gerard Moreno due to injury.
Spain squad faces the difficult task of containing Haaland
Pedri was unable to participate in Sunday’s crucial Clasico victory over Real Madrid because of an unresolved hamstring problem, and he will not participate in Luis de la Fuente’s initial matches as Spain’s coach.
However, Moreno experienced a muscular issue during Villarreal’s 3-0 LaLiga win against Osasuna.
Yeremy Pino, who provided an assist for Villarreal’s last goal in their recent triumph, has been included in the squad.
The 20-year-old winger has scored three goals in LaLiga this season. He was part of Spain’s World Cup squad, has been given an opportunity to represent the national team.
Real Betis forward, Borja Iglesias, has been selected for the squad as well. Making a comeback to the national team after being left out of Luis Enrique’s squad for the Qatar World Cup.
Borja Iglesias, who is 30 years old, has netted 12 goals in the league this season. This places him behind only Enes Unal with 13 goals and Robert Lewandowski with 15 goals.
Spain will be tasked with containing Erling Haaland as they prepare to host Norway on Saturday. That match is followed by a match against Scotland three days later.
