Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich has been forced to withdraw due to an injury despite being initially selected in Hansi Flick’s squad to face Peru and Belgium
Due to a groin injury, Bayern Munich forward Jamal Musiala has withdrawn from Germany’s roster for the March international break.
Flick will not call a substitute for Musiala
The attacker was in contention for matches against Belgium and Peru. Musiala has 20 caps to his name since making his debut in 2021.
However, he will no longer be able to accompany Hansi Flick’s team. This is after he suffered a thigh injury during Bayern’s 2-1 Bundesliga loss to Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.
Prior to his team’s open recovery session on Monday in Frankfurt, Flick announced the news and said he would not call up a substitute for Musiala.
“We [had] all hoped that Jamal would be fit, because he has unique qualities,” he said. “That’s why it’s a shame for everyone that he won’t be with us.
“We hope he is fit again as soon as possible and that he is back playing after the international matches.”
With Die Nationalmannschaft not needed to compete for Euro 2024 as the host country. Germany will play Peru in Mainz on Saturday before traveling to Cologne for a match against Belgium three days later.
