France coach Didier Deschamps says their Euro 2024 group is not as difficult as their group in the previous edition of the tournament.
The draw for the Euro 2024 group stage took place in Hamburg on Saturday evening. World Cup finalist in 2022 France has been drawn against Austria, the Netherlands, and one of Poland, Wales, Finland, or Estonia.
France was in the group death with Hungary, Germany, and Portugal in Euro 2020. Deschamps’ side was eliminated against Switzerland in the last 16.
After the Euro 2024 draw, Deschamps told TMC: “It’s going to be difficult.
“The pot three team we’ll be facing is the Netherlands. We won both our games against them [in qualifying] but it makes our group harder.“
He added: “We also faced Austria during the latest Nations League campaign and it was far from easy. We don’t know yet our last opponent. But it’s a difficult group.
“It’s not as bad as in 2021. But we need to be ready from the start. If everything goes our way, we may able to manage our third game, it will be for the best.“
