Spain ‘not afraid’ of Germany ahead of quarter-final clash, insists Rodri

Spain star Rodri insists they are not ‘afraid’ of Germany ahead of their quarter-final clash at the Euro 2024.

Spain reached the quarter-finals with a 4-1 comeback victory against Georgia in Cologne on Sunday night. Luis de la Fuente’s side will face the hosts Germany in Stuttgart on Friday.

Rodri, who scored the first goal for Spain, said his teammates are ready for the quarter-final meeting with the hosts.

“Germany will be strong at home, but we aren’t afraid,” Rodri said. “We must produce a good performance, but we are not here to play well or leave a good image, we are here to win with everything we have — that is the mentality of this team.”

Ahead of a mouthwatering clash with hosts Germany, Spain coach Luis de la Fuente claims La Roja are the best team at Euro 2024.

We have a lot of confidence and a team with talent, quality and commitment.

Being convinced of your ability is very important. I don’t want to offend anyone but we have the best team at this tournament.

Germany is a fantastic team. they have some of the best players in the world and they are very organised, very disciplined.

But they will face a team that is very similar to them, very committed, very well organised, difficult to overcome, hungry with lots of ambition.

“I know it’s the usual thing to say but in football it’s the small details that will decide the match and what happens in the end.”
