After joining La Masia in 2005, Thiago made his senior debut coming as a substitute in a 2-1 defeat to RCD Mallorca on 17 May 2009. He scored his first goal for the club on 20 February 2010 in a 4-0 victory over Racing de Santander. He ended the 2010-11 season by contributing three goals and three assists across 17 games.
