El Shaarawy is a famous Italian footballer who plays as a left winger for Roma and the Italy national team. He started his career at Genoa, where he joined the youth academy at the age of fourteen. He made his first team debut at the age of sixteen, becoming one of the youngest players in Serie A history. However, he only played three games for Genoa in two seasons, as he was loaned out to Padova in 2010.

He also scored two goals in two Champions League games, against Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen. Roma decided to make his move permanent at the end of the season, paying €13 million to Milan.

El Shaarawy scored two goals in each of his last three games for Roma in the 2016–17 season. He helped Roma secure a 5–3 win over Chievo on 20 May 2017, scoring twice in the first half. The Pharaoh also scored a brace in Roma’s 3–0 victory over Chelsea in the Champions League group stage on 31 October 2017. Shanghai Greenland Shenhua

 El Shaarawy left Roma to join Shanghai Greenland Shenhua, a Chinese club, in July 2019. The transfer fee was €16 million. He played his first game for Shanghai on 2 August 2019, facing Wuhan Zall in the league. The Egyptian Magician scored his first goal in China on 15 August, in a 2–2 draw with Tianjin Tianhai. The swift-footed winger was part of the Italy squad that participated in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil. He played as a substitute in the group-stage match against Brazil, which Italy lost 4–2. He also played the full 90 minutes in the third-place play-off against Uruguay and scored a penalty in the shoot-out that gave Italy the bronze medal.

El Shaarawy missed the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil due to injury problems that kept him out of action for most of the 2013–14 season.
