Messi confirms Inter Miami move in a bombshell interview

Lionel Messi has shocked the footballing world by announcing his intention to join Inter Miami snubbing offers from Barcelona and Al-Hilal.

In an interview with Spanish outlets SPORT and Mundo Deportivo conducted at his residence in Paris, the Argentine superstar has put an end to weeks of speculation about his future by confirming his next destination.

Confirming his imminent switch to MLS, Messi said: “I made the decision that I am going to go to Miami. I still haven’t closed it 100 percent. I’m missing some things but we decided to continue the path.”

Although Al-Hilal, a Saudi Arabian team, had made a lucrative offer and were considered the favorites to secure the 35-year-old’s signature until GOAL’s exclusive report revealed his decision to postpone a move to the Middle East, Messi has chosen to make his way to the United States to join Inter Miami.

The club, co-owned by former stars David Beckham, who played for PSG, Manchester United, and Real Madrid, has become Messi’s preferred destination. Despite Barcelona’s strong desire to bring him back, a reunion at Camp Nou did not materialize despite their prolonged pursuit.

Messi opens up about snubbing Barcelona and Al Hilal for Inter Miami

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo about a possible move back to Barcelona, Messi said: “I wanted to return. I was very excited to be able to return, but after having experienced what I experienced and the exit I had. And I did not want to be in the same situation again. Waiting to see what was going to happen and leaving my future in the hands of another.

“I wanted to make my own decision, thinking about myself, about my family. Although I heard that it was said that LaLiga had accepted everything and that everything was fine for him to return, there were still many other things that had to be done.

“I heard that they had to sell players or lower player salaries and the truth is that I didn’t want to go through that. or take charge of obtaining something that had to do with all that. I have already been accused of many things that were not true in my career at Barcelona. And I was already a bit tired, I didn’t want to go through all that.

Messi’s move to Inter Miami could change the landscape of football in the country. Besides Barcelona, Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal also missed out on Messi’s signature despite a lucrative offer. As he added: “If it had been a matter of money, I’d have gone to Arabia or elsewhere. It seemed like a lot of money to me. The truth is that my final decision goes elsewhere and not because of money.”
