Inter Miami-bound Luis Suarez dreams of retiring from football with Lionel Messi

Luis Suarez has disclosed that he and Lionel Messi aspire to retire together following the Uruguayan star’s unsuccessful transfer to Inter Miami.

Inter Miami made headlines in the football world by acquiring seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi, and subsequently securing his former teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

The Herons also pursued another former Barcelona treble winner in Suarez to reunite him with his pal Messi. However, the move will not materialize at this time as the Uruguayan’s current club, Gremio, terminated talks with Miami. Nevertheless, the duo remains hopeful of reuniting on the field in the future.

“With Messi we dream of retiring together,” he said on Uruguayan TV show Punto Penal.

He added: “It was something that we always planned when we were at Barcelona. And from one year to the next I went to Atletico and he went to PSG. We dreamed of it and we talked about it that after Barcelona we would go to the United States and nothing happened at the time. Now he made the decision to go there and from what you can see, he looks happy and we hope that at some point that possibility will occur.”

Due to Suarez’s current physical issues, it appears improbable that he would continue playing for an extended period.

Consequently, achieving their aim of retiring together may not be possible. Nonetheless, fans may still have a decent opportunity to witness a reunion of the four treble champions for one last showdown.
