Nashville general manager Jacobs describes Messi’s impact on MLS as ‘tremendous’

Ahead of their Leagues Cup final clash with Inter Miami, Nashville general manager Mike Jacobs expressed his enthusiasm about Lionel Messi’s impact on MLS, describing his arrival as “tremendous.”

Since joining Inter Miami in July, the Argentine World Cup winner has been a standout performer, scoring nine goals in six games after leaving Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the summer.

Jacobs said ahead of the final: “What’s happened with the addition of Messi and obviously some other really special players is tremendous for our league, the visibility of our players, our teams.

“Nashville SC will play in front of more people than in our club’s history and that wouldn’t have happened this weekend had Messi not come to our league. So I think that’s tremendous.”

Messi is perhaps one of the most significant players to have graced the United States, surpassing the influence of iconic figures such as Pele, David Beckham (who also co-owns Inter Miami), and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Should Inter Miami emerge victorious against Nashville, it would mark the club’s inaugural trophy win.
