Inter Miami is reuniting Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez after the MLS club successfully negotiated a deal to acquire the Uruguayan from Gremio.
ESPN claims that Suarez and Inter Miami have agreed on a one-year contract and the finalization of the transfer is pending Suarez’s trip to America.
During their six seasons together at Barcelona, Suarez and Messi nurtured a close friendship in addition to creating a formidable on-field partnership, before the Uruguayan left Barcelona for Atletico Madrid
After playing a crucial role in Atletico Madrid’s league title win, Suarez made a remarkable return to his first club Nacional, where he secured the Uruguayan title before heading to Brazil. Speculation about a reunion with his old friend and former Camp Nou colleagues, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, gained traction earlier this week, and it now seems like a mere formality.
As Messi enjoys some rest after receiving his eighth Ballon d’Or earlier this week, his old friend remains focused on the competitive side of the Brazilian Serie A. Suarez’s current team, fourth-placed Gremio, is gearing up to face Bahia on Saturday.
