Lionel Messi says he has “achieved everything” in football

Argentina legend Lionel Messi says he has ‘achieved everything’ in football after winning the World Cup in Qatar 2022.

Lionel Messi won the 2022 World Cup after his Argentina side beat France in the final on penalties at the Lusail Stadium. He also guided his country to Copa America glory in 2021.

In an interview with ESPN Argentina, Barcelona legend Messi said he is one of the few players in history who can say they achieved everything in football.

Messi said: “If a movie had to be made, no one would have thought of it like that. That it happened the way it did after everything that had happened. the disappointments in the Copa América and World Cups, was extraordinary, impressive.

“She (The World Cup) is the most desired by everyone. Anyone dreams big and the biggest thing is to be a champion with your national team.

“I was lucky to achieve everything at the club level in Barcelona and also at the individual level. It was the only one I was missing. There are few players who can say they achieved everything. And thank God I’m one of them,” he continued.

“With effort, sacrifice, work, and humility, in the end, you achieve your goals. The road can be hard, but you have to keep fighting for your dreams to try to achieve them. Sometimes it happens, other times it doesn’t, but you never have to stop to try it.

“I love playing ball, I love coming to the national team. I love being on the premises and before I couldn’t enjoy it like today.

Messi also revealed that he found peace of mind after finally reaching his dream, which was winning the World Cup with Argentina.

Being world champion changed me in the peace of mind that in my job. in inverted commas because it is still a job,” he revealed.

I was able to achieve everything. I was able to achieve what I dreamt of as a player and there was nothing left for me to do. That is the greatest pleasure. As when one achieves the goal in any field. Proud and satisfied to have done the job.”

Argentina and Messi are at the top of the CONMEBOL World qualifiers table and will defend their title in the 2024 Copa América.
