Chicharito ‘looking sharp’ on his injury return

Chicharito is set for a comeback with the Mexico national team after LA Galaxy coach Gregg Vanney announced that he is fit and ready for action following his recovery from injury

La Galaxy head coach Gregg Vanney claims that Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez has recuperated from his hamstring injury and is available to play in his first game of the 2023 MLS season against the Houston Dynamo.

Reports suggest that the new Mexico national team manager, Diego Cocca, has contacted Chicharito and expressed his willingness to include him in the national squad, subject to his fitness after the injury problems.

Speaking to a press conference on Wednesday, Vanney said: “He’s ready to go to Houston, now it’s just building up his match minutes. He looks sharp, he looks good. [He’s] getting repetitions in front of goal now because when you have a hamstring injury you can’t do a lot of things in a high intensity and high speed. Now it is just repetitions and getting him ready.

“He’ll train full all this week, he’s trained partially [in] some of the last sessions,” he added. “He’s gotten enough under his belt and his fitness level is good, so now it’s just getting him back into match fitness.”

Mexico in need of Chicharito

Chicharito’s participation in the Mexican national team has reduced following a dispute with former head coach Gerardo Martino in 2019. As a result, he was not selected for World Cup qualifiers or the Qatar finals. He has not played for El Tri in almost three years. However, with a new cycle starting for the Mexican national team, there is a possibility that Chicharito could make a comeback.

The Mexican national team is in greater need of Chicharito than he is of them. This is due to the lack of effective strikers available to Diego Cocca. Chicharito’s comeback could bring greater finesse to the team’s offense.

LA Galaxy need Chicharito as well. ،hey have had a tough beginning to the season with three draws and two defeats in their opening five matches. This leaves them third from the bottom of the Western Conference.

Gregg Vanney, the team’s coach, is hoping that Chicharito’s return will provide some much-needed attacking power to the team. On the other hand, Mexico is set to face the USMNT in an international friendly on April 19.
