Arsenal refocus their efforts on Sporting defender Diomande

Arsenal plans to revive their pursuit of Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande in January after a failed move in the summer.

Reportedly, the Gunners made a €35 million (£30 million) offer for Diomande, which Sporting rejected, as they value the defender at approximately €80 million (£69 million).

Despite the initial high asking price, Mikel Arteta’s team will reconsider the possibility of pursuing the player in the upcoming January transfer window.

Arsenal had acquired Jurrien Timber from Ajax earlier in the season, but the Dutch defender suffered an ACL injury during the first game week of the 2023/24 season.

With Timber expected to be sidelined for most of the season, Arsenal is seeking to reinforce their defense with a new central defender.
