Reportedly, Nuno Espirito Santo has informed the Al-Ittihad board that he does not see Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema as a fit for his tactical style.
A shocking report in Saudi newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat asserts that Nuno has informed the board that Benzema doesn’t align with his style.
The report further alleges that the former Tottenham boss did not seek the acquisition of the ex-Real Madrid striker, creating significant tension between them in the dressing room.
Benzema reportedly requested the captaincy at Al-Ittihad but was denied by the Portuguese coach. The Ballon d’Or winner expressed feeling ‘discomfort’ in the current Al-Ittihad environment, possibly hinting at the possibility of a surprising transfer.
Benzema has featured in two matches for Al-Ittihad this season. Although he hasn’t found the net, he did contribute with an assist in a 3-0 triumph over Al-Raed.
The outcome of this dispute is yet to unfold, but typically, such disagreements tend to culminate in one of the parties departing from the club. Benzema inked a two-and-a-half-year contract with Al-Ittihad for a reported €600 million following his departure from Real Madrid in June.
