Former Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar claims that the Saudi Pro League is better than Ligue 1.
In a press conference on Thursday, Neymar claimed the Saudi Pro League could be as good as Ligue 1.
The Brazilian international left PSG this summer and joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal for €90m. The 31-year-old Neymar scored 118 goals and provided 77 assists in 173 matches.
According to L’ÉQUIPE, he said: “Football is the same there, the ball is round, like everywhere else. Given the big names that make up the league, maybe this league is better than Ligue 1. The training sessions are intense. I am hungry for titles, and I want to win with Al-Hilal. What people say doesn’t matter to me. They said that Ligue 1 was weak, but I suffered the most there. [The Saudi league] is going to be interesting and I’m sure you’re going to watch it.
Neymar who hasn’t yet played for his new club has been invited to the Brazil squad. However, he will play in the two opening rounds of World Cup qualifying against Bolivia and Peru due to a right ankle injury.
