Tottenham on the verge of announcing Ange Postecoglu as their new manager

Reports indicate that Tottenham is on the verge of appointing Ange Postecoglou as their new permanent manager following his triumphant spell at Celtic, where he achieved a treble of successes.

According to The Athletic, Ange Postecoglou is the frontrunner to replace Antonio Conte as the manager of Spurs. The report suggests that an agreement between Postecoglou and the club is nearing completion and is expected to be finalized in the coming days.

After enjoying two prosperous years with Celtic, the 57-year-old will part ways with the Scottish club. In his first season, Postecoglou guided Celtic to reclaim the Scottish Premiership title, and in the following season, his team successfully defended the crown while also securing the Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup, completing a remarkable treble.

After encountering setbacks in their pursuit of several other candidates, Spurs shifted their focus to Postecoglou. Initially, Feyenoord’s Arne Slot, Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso, and former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann were all rumored to be part of Tottenham’s shortlist.

Additionally, there were even rumors of a potential return for Mauricio Pochettino before he ultimately decided to join Chelsea.

If Postecoglou’s appointment at Tottenham is officially announced this week, he will face a tough challenge of reviving the club’s fortunes following a poor season. Conte departed the team through mutual agreement in March, and his assistant Christian Stellini initially took over as caretaker manager until he was relieved of his duties after a crushing 6-1 defeat to Newcastle.

Tottenham’s disappointing campaign concluded with an eighth-place finish in the Premier League, and they now face the potential loss of their influential striker Harry Kane, who is reportedly being targeted by Manchester United.
