Mason Greenwood is left with “no alternative” but to depart from England, and Besiktas is encountering rival interest for the sidelined Manchester United striker.
At 21 years old, Greenwood is contemplating his choices after receiving notification that his time at Old Trafford has ended.
Since January 2022, Greenwood has not been included in United’s line-up due to his arrest on suspicion of attempted rape, assault, and coercive control. However, these charges were dismissed in February, which permitted the one-capped England international to engage with a personal trainer.
After concluding a prolonged internal investigation in Manchester, United decided to part ways with Greenwood.
Several English clubs reportedly expressed interest in Greenwood’s availability but have not pursued the matter further.
As reported by The Sun, Greenwood is now compelled to seek opportunities overseas.
Although he has been linked with a move to Italy, two Turkish clubs are currently leading the competition for his signing.
Among these clubs, Besiktas is reportedly one of those pursuing Mason Greenwood, and they appear to have no urgency to finalize the deal since the Turkish transfer window remains open until September 15.
United is expected to approve a loan move for Greenwood, with the provision of an option for a potential permanent agreement at a later stage.
Greenwood‘s contract at Old Trafford extends until 2025. If no transfer is reached this summer, United might be obliged to settle the remaining two years of his contract.
