Former Azzurri international Mario Balotelli experienced a car accident in Italy that resulted in his £100,000 Audi R8 being completely wrecked.
At approximately 7:30 pm local time, former Liverpool and Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli reportedly lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a wall in Orzinuovi, near his hometown of Brescia, as per Sky Italia reports.
The accident triggered the airbags of his car, and no other vehicles were involved. The 33-year-old managed to extricate himself from his car and lie down before paramedics arrived to attend to him. Despite the car being “destroyed” and images of the wreckage circulating on social media, he seemingly escaped serious injury.

According to SportMediaset [reported by The Mirror], Balotelli reportedly refused to undergo a breathalyser test despite police efforts. Balotelli, who currently resides in Turkey after signing with Adana Demirspor in September, has permission from his team to recover from an injury in his home country of Italy.
The incident took place during the same week when Balotelli expressed his desire to return to the Italy squad, even though he received his last of 36 caps five years ago. These comments followed Italy’s qualification for Euro 2024, despite only managing a 0-0 draw with Ukraine in their last group match.
