There is concern over the former Newcastle winger Christian Atsu who currently plays in Turkey, with the country hit by a horrific earthquake
Following the tragic deaths of thousands following earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, both Ghana and Newcastle United are concerned about Christian Atsu’s well-being.
Ghana hasn’t heard back from Hatayspor’s Atsu
With over 2000 people dead in Turkey and Syria due to recent earthquakes, there have been increasing concerns about some of the Turkey-based players. Players like Atsu, who alongside Hatayspor’s sporting director Taner Savut, haven’t been heard of despite attempts by rescue teams.
The Ghana FA has been trying to make contact with Atsu but are yet to hear from him. The FA took to twitter, revealing their concerns about the well-being of the player.
“We pray for Ghana international Christian Atsu and victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria,” a Twitter post said.
“We continue with our efforts to establish contact with officials of Hatayspor and the Turkish Football Federation, considering the difficult situation.
“We pray for Ghana international Christian Atsu and victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria,” a Twitter post said.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Christian Atsu and our brothers and sisters in Turkey and Syria. We remain hopeful for positive news.”
Atsu’s former club Newcastle, for whom he played 121 times, also Twitted: “Praying for some positive news, @ChristianAtsu20.”
