2014 World Cup Golden Boot winner James Rodriguez has terminated his contract with Olympiacos prematurely after only eight months in Greece
At the start of the 2022-23 season, the 31-year-old ex-Real Madrid player signed with the Greek team and played in 23 matches for them, contributing with five goals and six assists. However, he terminated his contract after just eight months.
Despite not having played since February due to an injury, the midfielder may soon return to the field. AS reports that he has already received inquiries from Turkish powerhouses Galatasaray and Besiktas.
The club announced the termination with a tweet that read: “Olympiacos FC and James Rodriguez have decided to terminate their cooperation. James will always be part of our club and a member of the “red-and-white” family. We want to thank him for his service and we wish him every success in the future.”
Rodriguez is hoping to secure a contract with either Galatasaray or Besiktas as this would allow him to make his return to playing football.
