Pochettino unsure if Lukaku will come back to Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino has confessed uncertainty regarding the status of Romelu Lukaku as a Chelsea player upon the squad’s return for pre-season training.

The player is expected to rejoin the team next week after his loan stint at Inter, but the Nerazzurri are attempting to secure another deal to acquire him from the Blues. While no agreement has been finalized yet, Pochettino hinted that Lukaku may be sold before their preparations for the upcoming season commence.

“The situation, all of the parts, know what we think. I think in that case he needs to come back in 12th or 13th to be in the squad to start pre-season,” he said at a press conference when asked about Lukaku. “like all of the players when they arrive they come to my office to say hello. If he is still a Chelsea player.”

Reports suggest that Chelsea and Inter are nearing a deal that would transfer the Belgium international to the Serie A team this summer. Lukaku has expressed his preference to solely play for Inter in the upcoming season, even though there were reports of AC Milan’s interest in signing him and he declined a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.

Before Chelsea depart for their summer tour of the United States, the 30-year-old will aim to have his future resolved.
