Nicolas Pepe close to Besiktas as Arsenal will likely terminate his contract

Besiktas will reportedly initiate talks with Arsenal regarding a potential deal for Nicolas Pepe, the winger who was unsuccessful with Arsenal.

Transfermarkt suggests that the Turkish team has a real interest in securing the services of the Ivory Coast international. The negotiations between the two sides will result in an agreement to bring the 28-year-old to the Super Lig, which could lead to the termination of his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

Pepe’s unproductive four-year stint with the north London club may come to a close with Besiktas’ interest in him. Pepe was signed by Arsenal for £72 million ($91m) from Lille in 2019, but he was unable to make a significant impact and was loaned out to Nice last season.

Pepe played in 112 games in all competitions for Arsenal and scored 27 goals. Since he is not part of head coach Mikel Arteta’s plans, Arsenal is eager to dispose of him, and he is in the final year of his contract with the club.

Arteta’s team take on Monaco on Wednesday in their final pre-season friendly.
