Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi expressed confidence in his squad, stating that numerous players were capable of scoring goals similar to Kaoru Mitoma’s spectacular effort in their 4-1 victory over Wolves in the Premier League.
Following an impressive display at Molineux, which saw Pervis Estupinan and Solly March each scoring twice alongside Mitoma’s goal, the Seagulls currently top the league table with a total of eight goals from two matches.
De Zerbi, who dedicated the team’s triumph to the late Italian coach Carlo Mazzone, who passed away at the age of 86 on Saturday, stated that he was not taken aback by Mitoma’s mesmerizing run and finish, which gave his team a narrow halftime advantage.
The Italian head coach said: “Mitoma is a top player and when you have a top player you can expect goals like today.
“We have not only Mitoma. We have Joao Pedro, (Julio) Enciso, (Danny) Welbeck, (Adam) Lallana, (Evan) Ferguson, (Simon) Adingra, (Solly) March, (Facundo) Buonanotte. I think we are in a very good condition in attack.”
De Zerbi wants Brighton to sign a midfielder
Moreover, after making energetic runs into the box, Paraguayan teenager Julio Enciso provided two crosses that winger Solly March scored, who now boasts a total of three goals in two games.
De Zerbi said: “I spoke with him (March) last season and the beginning of this season. I want him to score more goals. For him and for us.
“If the winger can score a lot of goals, if you check the teams at the top of the table anywhere, the big teams, they have wingers able to score 10 or 15 goals.”
Brighton ruthlessly scored three goals in a span of nine minutes at the beginning of the second half, overpowering Wolves. The team doesn’t seem to be affected by the absence of midfielders Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister, who have recently joined Chelsea and Liverpool, respectively.
However, De Zerbi expressed his desire to buy a new midfielder and another player before the closure of the transfer window on September 1.
