Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo is set to join Barcelona on a loan deal in the coming days ahead of the transfer window deadline day.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Joao Cancelo is getting closer to joining Barcelona on a loan deal. Reports suggest that there will be a buy option clause in his contract.
Cancelo was due to travel to Barcelona on Thursday, but he has still not received the green light from Barcelona to travel. Romano claims that Barcelona are waiting for financial fair play checks before finalising this transfer.
Cancelo featured in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year in 2021 and 2022 but lost his place in Man City squad after falling out with Pep Guardiola. Last January, he joined Bayern Munich on a loan deal, but the German club refused to sign him permanently.
The 29-year-old Cancelo joined Man City from Juventus in 2019. He has scored nine goals in 154 matches for Manchester City. The Portuguese player has won six trophies with City including three Premier League titles.
